02

How much area does it cover?

Not sure how deep? There's a guide just below.

Rule of thumb

How deep should it go?

If you're not sure what to put in the depth box, start here.

2–3″Top-dressing a drive that just needs a refresh
4″A normal driveway or parking pad — the usual answer
6″New base, soft ground, or anything trucks drive on
8″+Heavy equipment, haul roads and working pads

Building a driveway from scratch? A common approach is 4″ of #2 or #3 as a base, then 2–3″ of DGA or #57 on top — run the calculator once for each layer.

Still not sure?

For a normal driveway, it's #57 or DGA.

Those two cover most of the calls we take. The difference is what happens to it once it's down.

#57 LimestoneClean stone — it drains well and stays loose underfoot. Use it where water needs to move.
DGAFines left in, so it packs down hard and sheds water. Use it for a drive you can walk on without it shifting.
